Frequently Asked Questions
1. I live in a state where abortion is against the law. Is your abortion care legal?
Yes. Abortion is 100% legal in Virginia. And it is completely legal for you to travel from your home state to Virginia for any reason, including obtaining abortion care.
2. Are you the closest abortion provider to me?
That depends upon where you live. We believe that we are the closest legal one-day abortion provider to women past 6 weeks of pregnancy to many women in Virginia Beach, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
3. How late do you provide abortion care?
We provide abortion care up to 26.6 weeks.
4. How successful are medication abortions?
A recent published study showed a 98% success rate 4 weeks later.
5. How long does it all take?
Gyn Visits are fast. But for 1st trimester abortion services, it can take about 3 to 4 hours for a medication abortion and about 5 to 6 hours for a surgical abortion. It takes longer if you are asleep, because you must recover longer. These times are approximations and can vary depending upon how busy the office is. 2nd trimester abortions can take 2 days.
6. Can I go directly home after my visit?
Yes, of course. Because there is no waiting period in Virginia, you can get everything done in one single day-trip.
7. Can I be asleep during the abortion?
Yes! You can be awake or asleep, or you can take pills. It is your choice.
8. Are your providers female? Are they board-certified?
Yes! All of our providers are board-certified women. They know what they are doing.
9. Will the doctors and staff be nice to me?
Absolutely! All of our doctors are women and many of our providers have had abortions themselves when they were younger, before they became doctors. So, they can relate to you. They know what you are going through, because they went through it themselves. You can trust them. They will be kind, considerate, respectful, and skillful in their treatment of you. We ask our providers and staff to please treat their patients the way that they would want to be treated, if they were the patient.
